Structural Plan Reviews

SKA has the unique qualifications and expertise in performing structural plan reviews for the purpose of obtaining building permits. We are experienced in reviewing plans and calculations for small to large and complicated projects, from home additions to high-rise buildings.

Forensic Engineering

In the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, SKA conducted a series of investigative studies, on behalf of Miami-Dade County Building Department and the County Manager's Task Force charged with the review and revision of the South Florida Building Code. Investigative studies included seven residential subdivisions: Country Walk, American Homes, Hampshire Homes, Deerwood Homes, Lakes by the Bay, Saga Bay and Naranja Lakes. From the data gathered and SKA's expertise resulted in publishing of a 10 volume report, titled "Identified Code Violations and Construction Deficiencies," cited by the Miami Herald as a Best Seller. The investigated studies and reports became a basis for the revision of the South Florida Building Code and banning of staples and oriented strandboard. Because of our expertise and vast knowledge of design, construction and code requirements, we are able to solve our clients' problems in the most expeditious and cost effective manner.
